Our Beacon Mission

The mission of the San Francisco Beacon Initiative is to work at the site and system level to transform public schools into youth and family-centered places of learning. Grounded in the community schools model/framework, Beacon Centers are committed to a cohesive, comprehensive, and collaborative approach that create pathways to lifelong learning and transformative experiences for youth and the adults who support them through advocacy, leadership, networking and program support.

Picture Day

MLK Picture day is coming up! Come picture ready on Monday, October 17th. We will be taking pictures during PE for student IDs as well for guardians to order. If you would like to order your child's pictures go to mylifetouch.com and enter your picture day ID: EVTZJDQTC.

MLK: A Phone-Free Space

MLK will be using a new program, Yondr, in order to create a phone-free learning environment. Every student will secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. These pouches will be locked throughout the school day then will be unlocked as students leave the school. Students will hold on to their pouches and be responsible for them throughout the school day.

Covid-19 Policies
